The Executive Assistant to the CHRO provides business and administrative support to the Chief Human Resources Officer and the HR Senior Leadership Team by owning and driving the CHRO’s agenda, delivering the day-to-day administrative needs with excellence, while also identifying and creating solutions to increase CHRO and HR Senior Leadership Team capacity, effectiveness and focus, and planning and executing various projects and initiatives as needed to enable the HR strategic priorities.
Provide poised and resourceful executive-level administrative support to the CHRO in a way that optimizes the CHRO’s time and productivity through forward-thinking executive partnership.
Strategically and independently schedule and manage the CHRO’s calendar, meetings, events, travel and expenses. Proactively prepare CHRO with background context, logistics, documents, etc. as appropriate in advance.
Demonstrate outstanding organizational and communications skills, as well as a strong interest and understanding of Vail Resorts business, the HR strategic agenda, and the overall HR function.
Continuously build and demonstrate competency of HR functional content and incorporate into priorities, actions, and communications.
Establish great working relationships with the CHRO’s key stakeholders: the Executive Committee and their assistants, key business leaders, the CHRO’s direct reports and members of their organizations, external constituents including HR network and professional relationships, strategic partners and other suppliers/vendors. Provide timely, efficient customer service and information.
Create a high level of trust and confidence, acting with the utmost professionalism and discretion over the phone, through written communication, and in-person to accomplish requests and achieve goals. Operate with clear understanding and confidentiality of sensitive information.
Provide thorough and detail-oriented planning and support for executive-level meetings and special events including planning, logistics, registration & participant assistance, materials and presentations, and note-taking when requested.
Support Board of Directors’ and other executive level presentations through skillful content creation, management, organization and visual display.
Assist and own special projects and other work outside of a traditional administrative role as needed.
Maintain comprehensive and up-to-date skills in Microsoft Office and other administrative and collaborative technologies, and use these tools to increase the overall capability and efficiency of the CHRO, HR leadership team, and function.
Work closely with Executives Assistants and other administrative employees to facilitate all of the above.
Bachelor’s Degree required, with 5+ years as an executive assistant in a complex corporate business setting.
Highly motivated – strong desire to learn and grow. Strong critical thinking skills and the ability to apply lessons learned from one situation to another.
Operates with a high degree of independence, demonstrating organization, attention to detail and follow-through.
Able to multi-task in a fast-paced environment –must be flexible, resourceful, and demonstrate excellent time management skills.
Excellent oral and written communications skills, including proper grammar, spelling, and email etiquette; the ability to successfully handle sensitive and/or stressful situations professionally and effectively; and the ability to combine a sense of urgency with patience and diplomacy. Proven ability to maintain confidentiality.
Ability to successfully work independently and as part of a team, to adapt and work well with a variety of personalities, and to establish and maintain effective and professional working relationships with others.
Friendly and helpful attitude towards all internal and external clients, and a willingness to go the extra mile for superior customer service.
Interest in the outdoors and the products/services provided by Vail Resorts.
Highly proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Outlook), with demonstrated experience seeking, adopting and applying new technologies to improve productivity.
