Summary of Job:

The Sr. Retail Marketing Manager will drive the strategy and development of the multi-year roadmap for marketing supporting the overall marketing vision for Vail Resorts Retail. This position will support the overarching strategies and optimization of the go-to-market plans by working cross functionally to derive key insights from campaign results and sales channels.

The Sr. Retail Marketing Manager will manage a team to drive business growth for the retail department. The team will be responsible for driving the strategy and tactical execution of Vail Resorts Retail CO-OP plans, drive pre-season sales across the retail network and assist the Brand, Digital and CRM managers in achieving overall goals and high level strategic imperatives for retail.

Essential Job Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for driving the growth for our retail business, including how to achieve our 5 year growth strategy by channel, drive pre-season sales and reimagine and drive our CO-OP program. This position will focus on key brands in our portfolio, included, but limited to; Concept doors in our resorts, resort branded retail locations, Epic Mountain Gear, Bicycle Village, CA- Any Mountain, MN and Hoigaards.

  • Drive retail KPI’s and effectively translate long-term business/company vision and objectives into an actionable roadmap for marketing. KPI’s include; retail revenue, pre-season sales, CO-OP investment, penetration of pass holders, new and existing customer growth.

  • Leverage consumer insights and research to maximize retail strategies across the VRR division.

  • Provide thoughtful analysis of marketing effectiveness in achieving marketing objectives and business-driving efforts through data-driven results and optimization.

  • Manage and drive the CO-OP program for retail, increasing the overall investment from our partners based on key initiatives to drive growth overall. This position will be responsible for developing a comprehensive plan and pitch it to key stakeholders for approval, while tracking and reporting on results based on the execution of the investment.

  • Develop business cases for retail initiatives surrounding our Epic pass holders and key event offerings, leading these initiatives through the approval process cross functionally

  • Understand and synthesize best practices across resorts and sales channels to influence different marketing teams to drive the retail business based on these outcomes. Leveraging dotted line reporting structures with the Retail Marketing Managers in resort and corporate sales teams.

  • Build and manage relationships with key stakeholders, agency partners, sponsors, operational contributors and financial counterparts to support strategic planning and budgeting initiatives.

  • Work closely with CRM manager on consumer insights, segmentation strategies, and customer capture initiatives.

  • Oversee day-to-day budget management for retail and complete accurate monthly forecasting

  • Contribute to and support the efforts of the Director as needed

  • Lead a team of 1 by developing core competencies and growth of the team member to fulfill individual potential and fuel company core values and mission.

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor degree in Marketing or related field, MBA or advanced degree a plus

  • A minimum of 6 years of marketing strategy and execution - required

  • Agency experience, retail experience, leadership experience and budget management experience - required

  • Analytically driven

  • Demonstrated track record of developing, implementing and measuring a successful sales program

  • Ability to think conceptually across various customer communication channels and touch points.

  • Keen ability to effectively translate written needs into digital solutions that meet those needs.

  • Ability to lead and manage external agency resources to deliver support required to drive the business.

  • 4+ years of experience managing staff at supervisory/manager level

Other Requirements:

  • Proficient in MS Outlook, Word, Excel, Powerpoint

  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to leverage data from a variety of systems to create a point of view which can influence and drive the business

  • Experience in a resort, travel or retail environment

  • Experience in a leisure equipment rental business
