The Stowe Mountain Resort Mountain Operations Department is actively seeking a Snowmaking Lead to implement daily snowmaking & grooming plans while directing and train a 12-25 member team. The ideal candidate will be an integral and productive member of Snow Surfaces Team and will maintain and operate equipment and or systems related to Snowmaking, Grooming and Trail Maintenance operations. The primary goal of this role is to provide the best possible skiing surface using the equipment supplied to the best of your ability, while following all company policies and procedures
High school diploma or equivalent
Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record preferred.
Previous Snowmaking, Grooming and or Trail Maintenance experience required.
Previous supervisory experience preferred with proven ability to lead a team to meet objectives on time required.
Related mechanical skills preferred.
Must be able to work 12 hour shifts, including overnight shifts.
Must be able to work in all weather conditions for extended periods.
Must possess the ability to perform very heavy work (defined as exerting in excess of 100 pounds of force occasionally and/or in excess of 50 pounds of force frequently and/or in excess of 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects).
Must possess the ability to respond rapidly to abnormal situations in a responsible manner (power failure, etc.).
Must possess the ability to communicate directly, via radio, telephone, hand signals and by light movement.
Hiking and/or mountaineering experience preferred.
Knowledge of or ability to become familiar, within a short period of time, the trail network of the resort.
Ability to maintain or learn to maintain Snowmaking equipment in accordance with manufacturers’ specifications.
Advance knowledge of snowmaking, grooming and or trail maintenance principals, methods and equipment required.
Ability to implement and teach accepted operational practices as related to snowmaking, grooming and or trail maintenance.
Ability to maintain and or direct maintenance of snowmaking equipment (non distribution) and grooming equipment (operator level) and trail maintenance equipment.
Ability to demonstrate and ensure safe working practices with reference to snowmaking, grooming and trail maintenance.
Ability to conduct and/or direct snowmaking, grooming and or trail maintenance operations in a manner that maximizes production.
Ability to accurately complete in writing all written logs and checklists as required.
